Day #5 - Flash Dreams
Posted on January, 05 2009 at 11 PM

Though I didn’t do much actual sleeping yesterday, this is definitely how I felt. Working to finish some last minute changes and additions to our DFP course and lecture materials, I filled my head with thoughts of Flash deployments and Pre-Production Process deliverables, instead of comfy cozy Zzzs.
Along with weary eyes and a dizzy head, the late hours also gave me a chance to enjoy some really great older music I had been missing, specifically all of The Waiting albums, some of last year’s Hillsong and finally a super big, super great Genius playlist of oldies, started with the Zombie’s Time of the Season beauty.
Day #4 - X-files Vomit
Posted on January, 04 2009 at 11 PM

So after some sweet Saturday thrifting that resulted in a few new shirts, The Oaks first album and a Paul Westerberg cd I am kinda excited about, the night moved into watching a fresh disc of X-Files Season 2 episodes.
Most were pretty good, though all were of the “monster” variety, to which I much prefer the “alien” or “conspiracy” episodes more … however, one episode, “F Emasculata”, stood out from among the rest.
And by stood out, I mean it made all of those present want to run screaming from the room in terror. Sure, I normally have a weak constitution for stuff like this … but there was so much bulging, puss-ing, squirting, insect-infected grossness, I doubt even a billy goat would be able to stomach this episode. Gah! And an extra Blah!
Day #3 - Some Sort of
Posted on January, 03 2009 at 11 PM

Courtney, Jennifer, Jodie and I pretty much spend all of yesterday afternoon (and evening and morning) watching Season 4 of The Office, with all of the crazy good deleted scenes and bloopers that those DVDs contain.
This is probably one of my favorite quotes from this season, though in the deleted scenes Michael does at one point tell Toby as he is entering his office “Hey, Toby … close the door on your way out.” Hehe. The unrelenting hatred is just oh so funny.
Also, last night over dinner, I discovered a new word … Russians that are risque can now be referred to as russque !
IF : Resolve
Posted on January, 03 2009 at 02 AM

This is my entry for this week’s Illustration Friday theme of “resolve”. I hope all of your New Year’s parties were fun and safe and you are now on the right track to meeting all those precious new “resolutions”. If not … don’t feel bad come January 15th. Just “dust yourself off and try again” … yeah, Aaliyah, I thinking of you here. ;)
Day #2 - Scale
Posted on January, 02 2009 at 11 PM

All the work I have been putting into tracking my daily calorie intake (using the fantastic and free Lose It iPhone app) seems somewhat muddled at times by the mechanical floor scale I have been using. Sure, it is usually only about 3 pounds off, but when trying to be daily encouraged (despite the slow process of losing weight), being able to track down to the ounce is exciting indeed.
FYI, Target had a nice $20 scale, while all of Wal-Mart’s were ~$25 and up (and oddly set to kg). Oh, and if a 3 lb. inconsistency sounds totally acceptable to you, I have a slightly-used mechanical scale that is yours for the taking.
iPhone Uploads
Posted on January, 02 2009 at 09 PM

As much as I would like the iPhone to have a better CCD, some kind of flash or even a way to focus the lens (gah!), it still has been one of the most convenient cameras to have around.
Where normally I wouldn’t be able to take some of the spur of the moment shots I like without looking like a big camera tot’ing nerd, I’ve always got my iPhone with me and now, thanks to Apple, I canz pretend to be hip! Silly, I know.
Day #1 - Leap
Posted on January, 01 2009 at 08 PM

Last night was filled with so many friends, fireworks, shish-kabobs and fun, but definitely leaping over fireworks is still my favorite New Year’s Eve tradition. Thanks for that one, Pressly!
Thanks everyone that came out… bringing in 2009 over chips, dips, taquitoes and some sweet Mario Kart action is definitely where it is at! Oh and for those of you that were there for it, we also go to see the new Flight of the Conchords season premiere. Hehe!
IF : Voices

My late night entry for this week’s Illustration Friday theme of “voices”.
All I hear at times
are the streaming sounds
of monsters all around,
as they surround.
Fun with Collective Nouns
Posted on December, 11 2008 at 04 PM
Over a wonderfully tasty lunch of Sonny’s hamburgers (oh, yes … they are the best!), Courtney, Jimision and I had some fun with what we first called “bunch of’s” and “grouping terms”, then later found out were actually collective nouns. Here are the ones we came up with … a few of which are a bit unorthodox ;) :
Napkin 1
- a murder of crows
- a herd of sheep
- a hive of villany
- a pod of whales
- a flock of geese
- a pride of lions
- a guild of nerds

Found in this turmoil of evil, among the swirly of monster fur and lava-hot buzzing of robot lasers, emerges a bond; a brotherhood footed in the love of music and sleek lickable gadgetry.
I did up this week’s piece, for the Illustration Friday theme of “similar”, on the back of a party plate, during the recent game night at Jean Marie Cannon’s place.
