This pretty “Call for Entries” poster, promoting Adobe’s Design Achievement Awards, has been popping up all over campus and it is such a simple, yet fun design. If you’d like, visit Adobe’s site to find out more about this event and even download the poster PDF. Enjoy!

Finding out that the DFP course isn’t starting until February left me with some extra time to have fun last night, so I rolled up my sleeves and dug into some new Mario Kart cups (I am so loving how Nintendo has added so many of the DS, GameCube and N64 maps into this new version … love it!).Despite how much I have tried to stick with just using the fancy new Wii Wheel, with ...

Though I didn’t do much actual sleeping yesterday, this is definitely how I felt. Working to finish some last minute changes and additions to our DFP course and lecture materials, I filled my head with thoughts of Flash deployments and Pre-Production Process deliverables, instead of comfy cozy Zzzs.Along with weary eyes and a dizzy head, the late hours also gave me a chance to enjoy some really great older music I had been missing, specifically ...

As much as I would like the iPhone to have a better CCD, some kind of flash or even a way to focus the lens (gah!), it still has been one of the most convenient cameras to have around.Where normally I wouldn’t be able to take some of the spur of the moment shots I like without looking like a big camera tot’ing nerd, I’ve always got my iPhone with me and now, thanks to ...

The last 48 hours or so, I have been chucking a whole pile of new web, logo, illustration and t-shirt projects at the Illustrative Portfolio section. Even took some time to rewrite the CodeIgniter PHP files to optimize their indexing and output. Now, instead of having to manually add each thumbnail and larger image reference by hand, I can simply upload new examples to specified folders and magically, new samples show up on the Portfolio ...

Open in Textmate (uploaded by DRA Studio)Had a really fun lunch meeting with one of the WDD (Web Design & Development and) degree course directors yesterday. It is so enjoyable being able to sit around and talk about web standards, markup and CSS syntax. Yes, Courtney, that is really nerdy … but still, so much fun. For all of you coding-kids, Chris dropped a little script on me that I am finding really handy. MacroMates, the ...

Vector Study (uploaded by DRA Studio)This is an Adobe Illustrator vector study I did, using some of the excellent look that the Blue Moon beer logo has. Classic typography and subtle colors. Simply beautiful … even if I don’t drink. To create the faded embossed line in tan area, I had to learn to create a mask layer in Illustrator, something which could really be a lot easier … seeing as how often I like to ...

I am in the middle of some research for my Graphic Web Design course and I am in search of an article I thought I had read a while ago.If I am remembering correctly, it outlined the pros and cons of using the two typical methods of hiding content using CSS styles.Option #1:selector { display:none; }Option #2:selector { text-indent: -9999px; }The second is a little trick I first saw Zeldman use, but I know the ...

IF – Juggle (uploaded by DRA Studio)Here is my entry for this week’s Illustration Friday theme, “juggle”. My current trick is juggling my three awesome jobs … Full Sail, Apple and Illustrative – all with my two little hands.Oh, and why am I in my underpants? Who knows. Isn’t just like life for you to be at your best, but still everyone only sees the embarrassing stuff?

It feels good to get back into the swing of things and let loose on the posts. I toyed around with the idea of migrating to yet another blog system, but it is so hard to find a great client that supports Textile (which I am sick on now, thanks to BaseCamp) and with the recent re-domain-ing, SimpleLog seems to be pushing this out just fine.So what has been filling my eyes and head recently, ...
