Since IF’s “Brianna” decided (so unnecessarily) it was important to remind us all what “poise” means, I thought I would have a little fun with this week’s Illustration Friday theme. That’ll show ‘em!On a side note, I really enjoy coming back every now and then and using the fun lil’ free vector app, Rita … even though the UI is ugly, there is just something about it’s simplicity and the way it works with my ...

Here is my vector entry for this friday’s Illustration Friday theme of “subtract”.We were talking a bit about division and algebra in the DFP class the other night, so I had math on the brain … apparently.I even sized it to a perfect 320 by 480 pixels for your iPhone usage. Enjoy.

Here’s a little Illustration Friday piece that started out as a simple pencil sketch, got revisited with tracing paper and markers, partially colored with Prismas, then scanned, compiled and finished in Photoshop.“If God is the constant in my life, then, my love, you are the variable.Without you, it is possible I’d have visited less valleys, but assuredly, with you, I have seen that many more peaks. Our love is an intricate mess, one I wouldn’t trade for any other ...

For this week’s Illustration Friday theme of “celebrate”, I took about a half-hour over lunch with Matt and Steph at Moe’s to whip this guy up in the sweet iPhone Brushes app. The more and more I use it, the more comfortable I get with drawing with my fingers. I am pretty sure this means I need a Cintiq 12WX more than ever. Any takers? ;)

A quick and clean doodle, here is my take on this week’s Illustration Friday theme of “climbing”. Seems like an appropriate topic after this week’s Big Bang Theory episode, right?

My entry for this weekend’s Illustration Friday theme of “contained” … although, it would seem that this pail of saucy noodles is all but.If the tupperware here reminds you a bit of something, don’t worry. It is supposed to. I have been fans of the good kids over at the ‘factory for a while now.

This is my entry for this week’s Illustration Friday theme of “resolve”. I hope all of your New Year’s parties were fun and safe and you are now on the right track to meeting all those precious new “resolutions”. If not … don’t feel bad come January 15th. Just “dust yourself off and try again” … yeah, Aaliyah, I thinking of you here. ;)

Ah gah! In the monster-y mood and this is what I end up with for this week’s Illustration Friday theme of “vacant”.This guy started out with some free-form Rita line goodness, then slight coloring in ye ole Photoshop, then finished it off with a light paper texture and some noisy noise. And done.

Here is my entry for this week’s Illustration Friday theme of “repair”.I was thinking a lot about doing something with Anberlin’s great song “Dismantle. Repair.”, but when pencil went to paper, this is what came out. Could’a been because I was watching an episode of “That 70’s Show” while drawing it, but I doubt that had any effect. I guess I don’t really have any particular reason that it is about a broken robot … ...

Oh the joy of yummy treats and sugary candy eats! Here is my deliciously evil entry for yesterday’s Illustration Friday theme of “sugary”.The gritty paper background is courtesy of a Google search and a great resource called CG Textures and the scrumptious scary font was the feature download this month from Nate Piekos and his amazingness.Candy, candy, candy …. aaghg!

Here is my entry for this week’s Illustration Friday theme of “packed”. What started out as just a backpack sitting on the floor, filled with fun things, quickly became this cute multi-handed alien guy looking to fit in at school. Yay!

IF : Routine (uploaded by DRA Studio)The last few days have been completely filled with guns, zombies and the procreation/ fascination of the intimate relationship of the two. Blame it on Dead Rising or Shaun of the Dead, if you need a scape goat. Me, I choose to not explain the reasoning. In light … err dark of this walking dead fun, here is my entry for this week’s Illustration Friday theme of “routine”. Hehe.

IF : Detach (uploaded by DRA Studio)Here is my new entry for the Illustration Friday theme of “detach”. The line work and details are a bit more stringy and rigid from my usual rounded and smooth work, but this time around, I gave even more control to the pen I was using and let it do what it would. Since it was a muddled ballpoint ink pen, it kinda lost and regained its flow pretty ...

IF: Canned (uploaded by DRA Studio)Here is my entry into last week’s theme of “canned” on Illustration Friday. I know, I know. I took forever and almost 7 days to post this! Literally, I barely made the cut-off before the new week’s theme! But you can trust that I did do this last Friday (I wouldn’t think of lying to you … honest). I have just been completely swapped by client work and finishing up the ...

IF:Enough (uploaded by DRA Studio)Okay, so it has been a full week with iPhone, and I have to say that I am still completely ecstatic about it. Between the amazing-ness that is MobileMe “push” synchronization, GPS locations and the sweet sweet App Store, it is perfectly filling in for those moments where my using Nano was not enough and my MacBook Pro was overkill. RSS reading, Flickr exploration, and podcast viewing is up by tons ...

IF : Worry (uploaded by DRA Studio)My entry for this week’s Illustration Friday theme of “worry”. It’s nice and big (1600px wide, to be exact), so feel free to use it as a wallpaper, if you like. Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. – Matthew 6:34

IF : Tales and Legends (uploaded by DRA Studio)My submission into this week’s Illustration Friday theme of “Tales and Legends”. I originally had planned to create this just in Art Rage, as a fun experiment with the new version of the app, but it quickly deteriorated, as I realized I don’t like Art Rage.It is strong in some areas, and feels much like what use to be Alias’ Sketchbook, but for some reason, the blending and ...

IF : Plain (uploaded by DRA Studio)My submission for last week’s Illustration Friday theme of “Plain.” It was created in Illustrator using the typeface of Eccentric Standard at various sizes and rotations, then taken into Photoshop and laid down on a pretty little parchment texture via Google.I did manage to capture a screen of the creation process of the main graphic, but I will wait to post it until I have my new MacBook Pro ...

IF – The Blues (uploaded by DRA Studio)My entry for this week’s Illustration Friday theme, “the blues”. Pencil and Sakura Pigma ink on medium tooth paper. Photoshop CS3 for the final color touches. I tried to model the guitar after a BB King classic. While working on this piece, I was listening to the Bottles and Bottles playlist from my iPod “Love”. It isn’t really blues … but that is the same feeling I get while listening ...

IF – Juggle (uploaded by DRA Studio)Here is my entry for this week’s Illustration Friday theme, “juggle”. My current trick is juggling my three awesome jobs … Full Sail, Apple and Illustrative – all with my two little hands.Oh, and why am I in my underpants? Who knows. Illustration Friday – Twist (uploaded by DRA Studio)Here is my non-entry from last week’s Illustration Friday theme of "twist". I have been so lazy and busy, I missed the chance to submit this. Oh well. Still fun. And look at those majestic punk teeth? Beautiful!
