It is always such a long time in-between when a bunch of us can get together and watch trailers as a group, so this last time we made sure to knock out quite a few ... and since we happened to be up by the mall, we started the night with some warming Starbucks. Yum.

We had a great relaxing day yesterday, hanging out with Tyler, Courtney, and Melissa, playing the new Super Mario Bros, watching 500 Days of Summer (which was fantastic) and pushing forward with yet another disc of the X-Files.
At some point or another, Tyler and I discussed the merit of this motto ... "More Donuts, Less Running". We didn't actually eat any donuts yesterday, but I think I am liking the sound of it. :P

Finally! Courtney and Jodie are back in the loop with me for this big ol' set of movie trailers. I hope you enjoy ... I know I had a much better time playing them back from my MacBook Pro to the TV, thanks to the new QuickTime Player. It now allows for fullscreen playback on the secondary monitor while still allowing keyboard control and application switching on the main monitor.
Oh and I know that there ...

I love helping people move! Maybe it's the free exercise, the affinity I have for keeping things organized or just the hanging out with friends ... but if you ever need help moving, you know that I will be right there to help. Of course, it doesn't hurt if you have also some yummy pizza and soda for afterwards (thanks Aunt Gale!).
This is one's a quick pencil sketch with a HB lead, inked with the ...

Nick had asked for this a long while ago, but I finally got some time this weekend to play around with big inks and more of that nice heavy white paper Dad gave me.
This piece is, of course, based on James Montgomery Flagg's iconic "Uncle Sam" recruitment poster and was a lot of fun to ink out in a negative style for the highlights.
I've strayed from it a bit, but I think I am back ...

A cute lil dinosaur I drew up for Michelle's pita leftovers the other night. I have been wanting for a while to start a daily comic featuring a dino like this ... maybe soon??
I'm not really sure what it would be about or if it would even work to draw 'em that often, but after years of seeing the great things that Jim Davis(cartoonist) does with Garfield and Charles Shultz with Peanuts ... how could ...

No joke. Courtney, Jimison, Jodie and I literally only got to watch eight trailers together last night ... partly due to the slow wireless traffic available to us non-pirates [cough cough] and also because Jimjamijimerson only had a small window of time available before his pumpkin carriage turned back into a jack'o'lantern ... or something like that. Still, it was a fun time.
How I Got Lost

Something special I drew just for Kane Miller's birthday. "Kane Smash, indeed!"
Simple pencils covered by some nice detailed Sakura Pigma Micron pens, ranging from 005 - 08 size. I should have some higher-res photos of it up on Flickr soon.

I found some photos of FCC of Boca's week at camp and I couldn't help but miss those wonderful days of summer and fun. Making scrambled eggs for two hundred people, flipping grilled cheese sandwiches like a pro, morning devotions on dewy grass, racing canoes, showering off after crazy mud football, winning n' losing ping pong and carpet ball tourneys, meeting my wife-to-be ... seriously ... I love that place.
If you haven't already, go watch ...

On Saturday Jodie got a chance to cut my hair, so I am back to the mohawk goodness. I do think I look a bit like a Muppet character in the reflection, but I happen to like how all the stippling turned out.
Since we were joking about it during an iChat conversation, I was going to draw Jen getting pushed off her balcony by Courtney because Courtney and I were hungry and Jen wouldn't let ...

Something quick I whipped up for Brandon.
Sadly, the type is not mine ... my pens weren't liking the blue lead I drew this piece with, so my type came out all bloated. This is the beautiful "Peixe Frito" by Billy Argel.

Pretty much anytime Mel and I start talking about anything Yeti, I have to draw it. It's like I have this Himalayan fever and the only cure is letting it out with pencil, pen or Wacom stylus.
For this piece I did my typical pencil drawing, covered over with felt-tip marker and then digitized with the normal "Brush" tool in Illustrator ... but once I got to that point, I wasn't entirely happy with it. So ...

Since Kane was asking about it, I went ahead and created a desktop version of the Poise piece, in a variety of sizes. Visit the downloads section to get at 'em.

The other day I was spouting random seeds of wisdom, that Courtney coined “golden nuggets” … enjoy! Oh, and I hope you enjoy my friend Hurly here …Indecision leads to missed opportunity. No one will think of you as a women until you acknowledge yourself as one. What she lacks in determination, she makes up for in non-committal.Your bad choices can only lead to worst results. If God is my constant, you are the variable.Customization is the first ...

Tuesday was a really easy-going, since our DFP (Deployment of Flash Projects) students had already finished their work and were just presenting their projects. We discussed some of the cool things that the Happy Cog guys are doing with the Redesign Mozilla.org campaign and how important it is to not only be able to defend design choices, but also be able to offer an intelligent and informed exposition on them. After the students presented their projects, ...

We spent Sunday doing what Sundays where meant for: church at Southside, worship (with a few fantastic Hillsong and Passion songs, including God of This City … wonderful), yummy lunch at Moe’s, shopping in the LOOP and tons of lounging around watching the Indiana Jones quad-logy (isn’t that what a four part trilogy is called?).The Last Crusade is definitely my favorite and I am still afraid of/completely loathe the Temple of Doom.

Wednesday morning, afternoon and night were completely filled with Chick-fil-A awesomeness. With the unbelievable amount of free food, crazy high-tension Speed UNO games and my mom singing along to Flo Rida’s “Low” … it was almost more fun than I could of handled! In case you are wondering how someone could possibly have to draw 16 cards in UNO … you clearly haven’t played UNO with our house rules. Stop by some time and we’ll show ...

Courtney, Jennifer, Jodie and I pretty much spend all of yesterday afternoon (and evening and morning) watching Season 4 of The Office, with all of the crazy good deleted scenes and bloopers that those DVDs contain. This is probably one of my favorite quotes from this season, though in the deleted scenes Michael does at one point tell Toby as he is entering his office “Hey, Toby … close the door on your way out.” Hehe. ...

Last night was filled with so many friends, fireworks, shish-kabobs and fun, but definitely leaping over fireworks is still my favorite New Year’s Eve tradition. Thanks for that one, Pressly! Thanks everyone that came out… bringing in 2009 over chips, dips, taquitoes and some sweet Mario Kart action is definitely where it is at! Oh and for those of you that were there for it, we also go to see the new Flight of the Conchords ...

Over a wonderfully tasty lunch of Sonny’s hamburgers (oh, yes … they are the best!), Courtney, Jimision and I had some fun with what we first called “bunch of’s” and “grouping terms”, then later found out were actually collective nouns. Here are the ones we came up with … a few of which are a bit unorthodox ;) :Napkin 1a murder of crowsa herd of sheepa hive of villanya pod of whalesa flock of geesea ...

Found in this turmoil of evil, among the swirly of monster fur and lava-hot buzzing of robot lasers, emerges a bond; a brotherhood footed in the love of music and sleek lickable gadgetry.I did up this week’s piece, for the Illustration Friday theme of “similar”, on the back of a party plate, during the recent game night at Jean Marie Cannon’s place.

Like every other Apple-loving kid out there, I have been absolutely adoring the fantastic playlists created by the iTunes 8 “Genius” feature. Try as I may to out-smart it with my own custom playlists, the iTunes magic music algorithms continue to put out some amazing mixes. And with all this musical goodness at my fingertips, I feel it is unfair to not share it with others … hence, I have been sending my favorite mixes to ...

The last 48 hours or so, I have been chucking a whole pile of new web, logo, illustration and t-shirt projects at the Illustrative Portfolio section. Even took some time to rewrite the CodeIgniter PHP files to optimize their indexing and output. Now, instead of having to manually add each thumbnail and larger image reference by hand, I can simply upload new examples to specified folders and magically, new samples show up on the Portfolio ...

Jodie, Courtney and I got a chance tonight to catch up on some much needed movie-trailer watching. Apple has made some great improvements to the Quicktime Trailer site and that plus Unsanity’s WSX made for a simply wonderful time. There are alot that we watched, so you better get yourself a snack first. ;)The World UnseenJodie – Oh! I couldn’t tell if they were Latin, Indian or lesbians.ValkyrieOscar – I mean, I like Tom ...
