I've had this simple sketch sitting in an "Upload Me" folder for a while now (hence the post date adjustment). This guy managed to get shuffled around between backups, restores, a broken laptop and now my fancy new MacBook Pro. Just a little graphite and some blue lead pencil (which I found in the grass on campus ... at some point) to show how much time I have spent reading lately.
I usually jump between a ...

Now that I have a nice platform in place for posting up new content, I thought it would as good as time as any to try working up a few comics every week. Nothing too fancy and I'm not planning on making any long term promises, but for now it seems like a fun idea.
The Skinny
We spent some time at my parents' place in South Florida this weekend and I happened to have a few ...

We had a great relaxing day yesterday, hanging out with Tyler, Courtney, and Melissa, playing the new Super Mario Bros, watching 500 Days of Summer (which was fantastic) and pushing forward with yet another disc of the X-Files.
At some point or another, Tyler and I discussed the merit of this motto ... "More Donuts, Less Running". We didn't actually eat any donuts yesterday, but I think I am liking the sound of it. :P

Along with Norm, I have been on this kick lately to drink more water... whether it's of the tap, iced or vitamin variety. For the most part it has been great ... you feel less thirsty, gives you something to put in your "I Heart Jim Halpert" coffee mug ... all that good stuff. Sadly, though, it also has the side-effect of forcing me need to visit the restroom like every 1/2 hour. And sometimes, ...

I don't know about you, but I've had a Google Wave account for more than a few weeks now and I still have yet to figure out what to do with it. I mean, I saw the amazing Developer Preview from the Google I/O event, but without any immediate collaborative needs or really any contacts already using Wave, this fantastic communication tool is just another inbox for me to check on every now and then.
What ...

I love helping people move! Maybe it's the free exercise, the affinity I have for keeping things organized or just the hanging out with friends ... but if you ever need help moving, you know that I will be right there to help. Of course, it doesn't hurt if you have also some yummy pizza and soda for afterwards (thanks Aunt Gale!).
This is one's a quick pencil sketch with a HB lead, inked with the ...

Sometimes ... having to deal with drama is annoying.
On a lighter note, this was lots of fun to draw and shade, thanks to a Indigo Blue Prismacolor pencil I found at work. The yellow I added in Photoshop.
On another note, I am again under my daily calorie allowances, thanks to the fabulous Lose It iPhone application. If you want to join me, just add me as a friend in the app.

Jodie and I had great time with a gang of FCC kids tonight ... exchanging presents, playing Nerts (Erin and Seth won, but Courtney and Christie were in a close second), enjoying pizza and homemade holiday treats ... and of course, rocking some sweet Mario Kart : Double Dash action.
Despite that it is like an almost 8 year old game, it is still one of my favorites for the Gamecube/Wii. The newest MK added some ...

This is just a quick daily sketch for Friday ... me in a new shirt and sweater to watch Jodie's performance in FCC's Night of Noel. I apologize for the rough lines ... I'm still getting back into the habit of drawing all the time. ;)
I actually had to repeat the colors a few times to get them right. I tried working them up first using Crayola markers, but ended up re-doing most of the ...

Despite having to endure some pretty weak dialogue and plot points (some of which I apparently used to enjoy), I will always still watch and love Gone in 60 Seconds ... if for nothing else than getting to see that beautiful '67 Shelby Mustang GT 500.
I still have yet to see the H.B. Halicki's 1974 original, but it is interesting that the Eleanor in his film is actually the 1973 Mach 1 Mustang.
I tried my ...

On Sunday, Jodie and I had a great time celebrating our 7 year anniversary. It was technically a day early, but that was only because my current Full Sail teaching schedule has me coming home pretty late/early (depends on how you look at it).
We enjoyed our traditional meal at the Cheesecake Factory and a late showing of Disney/Pixar's amazing UP, sharing memories, laughs and a few tears.
We quoted movies, talked about friends and all that ...

On Saturday Jodie got a chance to cut my hair, so I am back to the mohawk goodness. I do think I look a bit like a Muppet character in the reflection, but I happen to like how all the stippling turned out.
Since we were joking about it during an iChat conversation, I was going to draw Jen getting pushed off her balcony by Courtney because Courtney and I were hungry and Jen wouldn't let ...

Tuesday was a really easy-going, since our DFP (Deployment of Flash Projects) students had already finished their work and were just presenting their projects. We discussed some of the cool things that the Happy Cog guys are doing with the Redesign Mozilla.org campaign and how important it is to not only be able to defend design choices, but also be able to offer an intelligent and informed exposition on them. After the students presented their projects, ...

Monday was so full of work that most of the details are pretty fuzzy. The one thing I do remember is the wonderfully light and clear-headed feeling I had all day. It may have been related to something else, but I am giving full attribution to the fact that I only had a granola bar, an gala apple and lots of water all day. Every movement feel determined and every problem seemed to find ...

The worship service was fantastic this Sunday at Southside … uplifting and so beneficial in strengthening my resolve. Of the many points in Ron’s sermon, two stood out to me:1. The reason we find our prayer lives inadequate, is because we live cluttered lives and cannot hear God.2. To understand your circumstances, good or bad, God’s perspective is vital. After church Jodie, Courtney, Miriam and I enjoyed a super cheap and super delicious lunch of pizza ...

So, I woke up this morning, fixing problems left and right and feeling good … until I realized I had double-paid one of our bills. AAaahh!!What had happened was (yes, Mom. You have to say that in a ghetto voice) … in anticipation of getting paid last Friday, I scheduled a payment in advance. Then, actually ON Friday, I made the mistake of paying the bill anyway. After several phone calls, I was able to ...

So I haven’t really been sleeping lately and it is doing wonders for my eyes and my hair … and by wonders, I of course mean I am tired and afraid to look in the mirror most nights/mornings.Oh and with this sketch, I was kinda trying to give a node to Willie Baronet’s fantastic style of clean simple lines. It really doesn’t compare to his work, but I like how it turned out overall.

Thanks to a silly cold I got from someone at work (still not sure who) and taking night-time medicine, I was late arriving to prep with the rest of the Southside worship team and kinda had to rush my pedal setup.I am guessing that is why during the service, both my tuner pedal and BOSS Blues driver kept dying on me … it eventually worked out, but was still kinda non-confidence instilling.I did however manage ...

Money has been pretty tight for us lately, so it was a pretty great feeling to be able to go out Saturday afternoon and buy some groceries to fill our empty fridge.Of note, I would say the best purchases made were: Milk (now I can finish that bag of Cap’n Crunch)Pepperjack cheese slices (mmmhmm … tangy)Frozen pizza (well … you know)Creamy Peanut butter (I would have preferred chunky, but the pregnant lady won this one)I also ...

For some reason or another, I ended up taking so much stuff with me to work today. I mean … I think I needed it all. Camera, lens, batteries, scanner, USB cables, sketchbook(s), art box, two books and on top of all that, my normal MacBook Pro backpack.Yeah … that seems about right. Let’s call it “being prepared” and leave all those “NERD!” comments at home, ‘kay? Thanks a bunch.

Since I got home from work late last night, I wasn’t able to pick up the extra special box Jessica sent until this morning. And since I have been hawk-edly watching the FEDEX shipping notifications for eight full days, it is no wonder I couldn’t sleep! So, you may ask … what was in the box? Well, not only did Jess send my new camera, a Canon S5 IS (EEEEeeee!!), and accessories and our new wireless ...

It’s back! It’s back! It’s baaacckk! LOST is back with new episodes in Season 5 and I couldn’t be happier … even if Courtney, Jimison and I didn’t manage to get through re-watching all of the previous seasons before this premiere (I know, I know … sometimes we set ridiculously silly goals for ourselves).Plenty of peeps came over, we dimmed the lights and turned up the surround sound and let the magic of J.J. Abrams, ...

I have been doing lots and lots of reading lately … mostly for work, so technical things like Adobe Flex, PHP, and the like, but I have also been managing to work in some fun reading too. I am still working through Madeleine L’Engle’s fantastic Time Quartet and on the side, plenty of collected comic books (you can actually read some of my reviews/thoughts over at Matt Zeller and I’s project site).Oh, what do you ...

There are probably more than just a few tv shows that both Jodie and I enjoy watching together, but definitely up there near the top is Kyle XY, so I was pretty excited when Jodie texted me this afternoon to let me know that it was coming back with new episodes. What was even better? We apparently missed the premiere last Monday, so with watching that one online, we ended up having two brand new ...

Sometimes, the best things in life are the simplest. Jodie and I enjoyed a great day together, starting with the service at Southside Christian Church this week.It was an especially nice day, since I got to play acoustic guitar … ah, the fun!
