Daily Sketch – Drama

Posted on Sunday, December 6th, 2009 under Life Sketches | No comments

Sometimes ... having to deal with drama is annoying.

On a lighter note, this was lots of fun to draw and shade, thanks to a Indigo Blue Prismacolor pencil I found at work. The yellow I added in Photoshop.

On another note, I am again under my daily calorie allowances, thanks to the fabulous Lose It iPhone application. If you want to join me, just add me as a friend in the app.

Gold Coast

Posted on Wednesday, August 5th, 2009 under Life | No comments

I found some photos of FCC of Boca's week at camp and I couldn't help but miss those wonderful days of summer and fun. Making scrambled eggs for two hundred people, flipping grilled cheese sandwiches like a pro, morning devotions on dewy grass, racing canoes, showering off after crazy mud football, winning n' losing ping pong and carpet ball tourneys, meeting my wife-to-be ... seriously ... I love that place.

If you haven't already, go watch ...

Rocky Ricardo from Oscar Cortez on Vimeo.

Here is another piece done in the wonderful Brushes iPhone app, on the way to Cocoa Beach. I didn't have any specific inspiration for it, but did think about that scripture in Mark:

The Parable of the Sower
Again Jesus began to teach by the lake. The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all ...

Day #25 – BOSS

Posted on Sunday, January 25th, 2009 under Sketches | No comments

Thanks to a silly cold I got from someone at work (still not sure who) and taking night-time medicine, I was late arriving to prep with the rest of the Southside worship team and kinda had to rush my pedal setup.I am guessing that is why during the service, both my tuner pedal and BOSS Blues driver kept dying on me … it eventually worked out, but was still kinda non-confidence instilling.I did however manage ...

Breaks

I’ve had the words of a song I heard at Status last week stuck in my head for awhile, and after shaking around in my head a bit, this wallpaper is what they turned into. I hope you enjoy, and for those interested, here are my notes from the speaker that night.

IF : Worry (uploaded by DRA Studio)My entry for this week’s Illustration Friday theme of “worry”. It’s nice and big (1600px wide, to be exact), so feel free to use it as a wallpaper, if you like. Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. – Matthew 6:34

Ropes Course

Posted on Tuesday, May 13th, 2008 under Design Sketches | No comments

Ropes Course (uploaded by DRA Studio)God has helped me find some focus in the past couple of days and it is really benefiting my freelance work a lot. The feeling of accomplishment in cleaning out my Inbox and progressing several projects is wonderful. Plus I have also found some time to update my city collection, as well as some casual reading. If you haven’t already checked out the bible reading Del.ico.us link I added a few ...

Light Night 2007

Posted on Friday, September 28th, 2007 under Design | No comments

Light Night 2007 – Proof (uploaded by DRA Studio)My newest design for Southside’s upcoming Light Night event. Should be pretty fun. The main stipulations I got from SS was that it couldn’t directly include anything Halloween related … since it is a Halloween alternative. So, pumpkins, skulls, blood, guns … all out. Josh had the idea of incorporating something to do with buildings or the city, since it happening in the Orlando area. This is what I ...

Venus Boy (uploaded by DRA Studio)A quick poem I wrote during sunday school today at Canoe Creek: Venus is beyond the moon. We’re hiding to see her soon. She is my morning star.Holding hands, running so far.Filling my space and mind.Let’s watch her rise one more time.

With the Breeze

Posted on Saturday, June 16th, 2007 under Writings | No comments

In the rushing wind and gentle breeze, you speak to me, O Lord.At the rustle of the autumn leaves,I know you are with me.In the bathing warm of sunlight,I feel your watch over me.Your presence gives me calmand I am free.

Read the Bible in a Year

Posted on Wednesday, January 10th, 2007 under Life | No comments

Just in time for all of your New Year's Resolutions, if you're interested in reading the Bible in its entirety this year, might I recommend The One Year Bible? Not only does it look nice, have a matching Google Homepage widget for convenience, you can also listen along with each passage.

My favorite part? The guy reading along sounds alot like Sideshow Bob! Seriously ... it's the best!

Joke on Jill

Posted on Friday, April 7th, 2006 under Life | No comments

Just before one of our recent leadership meetings some of the ACT members played a joke on leader Jill Hantsbarger. It all started with one person laying inside the couch waiting for the unsuspecting leader to sit down.
This first shot is everyone sitting around until the meeting starts. Next Jill gets a little suspicious and thinks that I am taking pictures of her.
In between the middle of our keyword ...

Spoons…DARE!

Posted on Sunday, March 26th, 2006 under Life | No comments

A few nights in February there was a rousing game of spoons going on in apartment 439. Some of the competetive players included Courtney, Christie, Eric, Katalina, Jennifer, Michelle, Erin, and Jodie. Sadly, for the losers, we were playing Spoons Dare on one of these nights and yes I made sure to take some blackmail photos!

Here is Michelle taking the first dare - eating a tablespoon full of ketchup

In these photos Katalina had ...

Philippians 3:1-16
