I have been wanting to start animating some of my drawings for a long time, so even though this guy is really simple, I needed to start somewhere. Enjoy!

Since I didn't have a Wacom tablet around, my daily person drawing (and coincidentally my Illustration Friday entry) was done in the great Brushes iPhone app.

It appears that the AIR 1.5.1 runtime has a minor issue with re-maximizing windows after miniziming them to the Snow Leopard dock. I have submitted a bug request, so hopefully it will be fixed soon.

I also should probably start recording some sound when I am taking these screencasts with the new Quicktime X ... it's like I have been making them for a deaf person.

One of the problems Norm and I have found with our DFP students building ActionScript 3 projects in Flex Builder is that any AIR-specific code that is implemented lacks code-completion and error-resolving. A really simple solution, though, is including the Global AIR SWC in the project's Library. You can follow along with the video for a demonstration on how.

Here is another piece done in the wonderful Brushes iPhone app, on the way to Cocoa Beach. I didn't have any specific inspiration for it, but did think about that scripture in Mark:

The Parable of the Sower
Again Jesus began to teach by the lake. The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water's edge. He taught them many things by parables, and in his teaching said: "Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.

Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, multiplying thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times."

Then Jesus said, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear." - Mark 4:1-9

Yesterday was such a great day … enjoyed a yummy lunch with Courtney and Jodie, fell asleep on some soft couches in IKEA and got to hang out with a bunch of old (and new!) friends, including Nathan G., Eddie, Rosie and Sarah. I drew this guy over dinner at Chick-fil-A … again, using the sweet, sweet Brushes iPhone app.

The actual time on this in Photoshop was 56 minutes, but Jennifer helped me lapse it to nearly 550 fps in Final Cut … woo hoo for speediness!
