Giant Man Baby – Site (uploaded by DRA Studio)I just finished implementing the new CSS stylesheet for Jason’s new video company site, Giant Man Baby Productions. I was given a logo created by a friend (Andrew Sale) and tagline … then pretty much ran with it.I really feel that this design is going to be a lot of fun. It is simple clean and as soon we get some free time, adding in the Flash ...

Substance – Black n White (uploaded by DRA Studio)A preliminary design of shirt artwork for Justin Pressly. The early black and white version, though the design did start in my Physical vs. Digital sketchbook.

Light Night 2007 – Proof (uploaded by DRA Studio)My newest design for Southside’s upcoming Light Night event. Should be pretty fun. The main stipulations I got from SS was that it couldn’t directly include anything Halloween related … since it is a Halloween alternative. So, pumpkins, skulls, blood, guns … all out. Josh had the idea of incorporating something to do with buildings or the city, since it happening in the Orlando area. This is what I ...

For this past week at camp, I created a custom Apple Keynote theme called Dark Aurora. The biggest goal behind it was to make something dark and simple, yet still engaging. It should be perfect for some of your upcoming worship-related events, were limited projector color/contrast is a problem.
You can download the iWork ‘06 version here (if anyone happens to need compatibility with iWork ‘05, just let me know).

Future Mapping (uploaded by DRA Studio)Just a snap of some planning I was doing for changes to Dra Studio, Sketch Blog … and another secret project. :D

My entry for this week's Illustration Friday theme of "Citrus". For IFs, I usually try to work with what comes right to my head ... whatever comes first to mind. So for this, all of my initial thoughts were about pixels and gum-droppy icons ... and who am I to fight what feels so good?
I worked this up on paper, pulled it right into Illustrator for the slick lines and gradients (and no, I still ...

Jodie has been watching lots of Ace of Cakes recently and decided to add some fun fondant pizazz to the cake she made for her College Choir's end-of-year party. Not only does it look pretty amazing, but because she used marshmallow yummy fondant, it tastes good too!

Here is the finished piece for the IGNITE event poster. A little woodsy, a little gritty ... and plenty beautiful. I really enjoyed making this one, as I decided to take an old school approach to most of it, with type setting some of it by hand, with real paper and scanning in the results. I also blended in some original artwork in the back, just for fun and to add more substance. I also ...

Ah ... still no new sketches ... at least not for posting. But don't worry. It's not because I am slowing down, but only because I am working hard to keep up to date on all my design work. Enjoy this little tid bit and let me know what you've been up to.

I have had such a mash of wise and helpful words run through my head the past couple of days. In chapel last Tuesday, the speaker reminded us to look inward first for the cause of problems in building a strong community in the church. At Gateway Christian Church in Tennessee last Sunday, Jodie's dad spoke about each of our own callings and about service and making sure of where your priorities and investments (whether ...

Well, there you go. A good portion of Monday was spent finalizing the New Creation shirt design ... what do you think? (You can see the back in the Flickr sidebar).
The shirt color is actually the same "Texas Orange" we used for the Kenny Beers Band shirts, so it should turn out really nicely. As for staying consistent with the poster design and yet still giving it a cost-efficient and fun "edge", I think it ...

Thanks to some of that silly relationship garbage being out of my life (at least for now), I have been working really hard and getting plenty of things off my To-Do list (for which, by the way, I am currently using a mixture of Ta-da Lists and Basecamp).
Since I still haven't gotten the Dra Studio server running the newest version of PHP and some other technologies, I went ahead and set up the Illustrative Request ...

Oddly enough, I didn't keep any of the things I drew yesterday, so instead I will leave you with two nuggets of YouTube goodness.
The first? John Reuben's new Word of Mouth video ... not too shabby of a track, and the animation is pretty fun. It has this kinda Cartoon Network meets 1970's School House Rock feel too it. (It was directed by Chris Oatley, who's work is pretty great stuff).
Second? No More ...

Today was another great day of accomplished tasks ... among which was the New Creation poster (check out the Flickr sidebar!). Karati-gami at d-groups went really well ... even if I did make Jen mad at me for a bit. ;) I am now well on my way to getting those thousand origami cranes so I can have my wish.
After Southside band practice, Jen and I worked on this desktop wallpaper together ... not to ...

Finally! This morning was one of the first in a long while that I didn't absolutely despise as soon as I woke up. I stayed up late last night, seeing to some website updates for Mark Atteberry and a few other projects, and even with the minimal 2-3 hours of sleep, I really felt so much better starting the day out.
We had a bit of car trouble that had to be sorted out today, so ...

This morning began like so many recent ones:
Me waking up late, even though I really needed to wake up early and work on Illustrative designs, or at least warm-up sketches.
Me feeling completely unrested.
Me feeling totally useless and definitely somewhat depressed.
Me rushing to get ready for work at FCC.
I think I am finally beginning to realize why this is happening, and I think that the realization is along the lines of me not being where I ...

So the other day, we were watching Monster House (quite the enjoyable flick, too) and it dawned on me that, not only would "Thou Art Dead" be a great game to play, but I am sure someone had already made it into one. Sure enough. And I even found a blog by one of the artist/animators. Fun!
Oh and in case I didn't already tell you about Anberlin's soon coming album, Cities, consider yourself told. Why ...

Isn't it the worst feeling when you realize you can't leave a good enough tip for a waiter/waitress that has been exceptionally nice and attentive? I hate when that happens. It instantly makes me feel so cheap, even if I know the problem is a lack of funds and not a parsimonious outlook on my part. Agh!
Today was so very yummy. Leftover chinese food for lunch, while watching old episodes of The Office; Chinese food ...

Ahhh! Ahhh! WEEEEEEEEEHHHH!
Excuse my excitement, but it looks like one of my shirts made it into the running on Threadless.com. Please take a moment and vote for it! ;)
I some other designs I submitted, but this is the only one that has made it past approval so far. Cross your fingers and hope for the best!

So here for your viewing pleasure is my slave and labor from last night ... a poster I did Jonathan Jimison and Dave Woodrum's upcoming concert, Coffee House in the Barn. Pretty and green, with just a hint of grit and grunge, I think it came together nicely as a meld of vector art and photo-realistic texture. And I mean ... I got to work some new Dry Media brushes and Layer Masks in Photoshop ...

A quick logo I did for the Junior Class' upcoming Christmas Banquet, Ritzmas! Once Tyler Perkins updates the video trailer on YouTube, I will post a link.
By the way, if you're ready to get in the holiday spirit, check out this fun "christmas lights" widget for your mac (you can even customize it with all different types!). Nothing says Christmas like big and bright holiday lights!
**Update: As promised, here is the link to Tyler's ...

Since our gig this weekend went so well, I thought I should work up a possible logo for our band, Kenny Beers and The New Ethos (you can check out the MySpace page here).
And of course (because I love black shirts), here is this one. Let me know what you think.

So here is my first ever design for an Überbot shirt ... you know ... that amazing store in Winterpark, FL. I haven't heard back from them yet, but if things go well and they like it, there should be plenty more to come. Plus, it would rock to see one of my designs in their store. (For this design, I had originally wanted to have the word "uberbot" dripping out in oil behind ...

This is a shirt design that is currently being printed for Southside Christian's upcoming Light Night at Chick-fil-A. The concept came from Josh Van Tassel, after the initially-submitted design was deemed too, "Halloween-eey". Light Night is happening on the night of October 31st @ the Southchase Chick-fil-A, so if you're looking for some good clean family fun, with candy and costumes, don't miss it!
