Astro Boy (2009)
3 out of 5 butt-deployed machine gunsThe other movie I got to enjoy on my double-feature cheap theater Sunday was Astro Boy and even though I wasn't crazy about the overall execution of the film, there were some really great pieces. I loved all of the character designs by Imagi and most of the voice acting was really well placed (yay for Kristen Bell, but not so much for Nick Cage). The big robot Zog was definitely a favorite, followed closely by this cute kid that is either called Gracie or Widget (I wasn't able to find any pictures of her online yet) ... for some reason, the frame with her holding all the remotes really stood out as fun to me.
If you have kids, you probably shouldn't skip this one, though I do agree that it does introduce some dark themes along the same lines as Up and The Incredibles, that might be a bit much depending on the age of your children.
