Gee bird goes bark

Posted on Wednesday, December 5th, 2007 under Sketches | No comments

This morning I added the finishing touches to this piece from my Digital vs. Physical sketchbook. Like most of my sketches, this started out as one thing and ended up being something that I have no idea where it came from.

I started this one while on lunch break, drinking Sprite, at Apple. The scanner wasn’t working right at FS, so I used Zak’s Kodak point-n-shoot to grab a pic of it. Color adjusted to line-art in Photoshop, Live Traced and Painted in Illustrator (still not too crazy about either of those), then copied it over to Photoshop to add the rest of the look and feel.

My submission for this week's Illustration Friday theme of "surrender" ... a generalized native, alone on the plain, facing defeat and necessary surrender. I used everyone's new favorite digital sketch app, SketchBookExpress (thanks to the free download on Apple's Mac Store) for the initial version, then adjusted and refined the colors in Photoshop using Smart Adjustment ...
IF : Vacant
Ah gah! In the monster-y mood and this is what I end up with for this week’s Illustration Friday theme of “vacant”.This guy started out with some free-form Rita line goodness, then slight coloring in ye ole Photoshop, then finished it off with a light paper texture and some noisy noise. And done. ...
