Illlustration Friday : Citrus

Posted on Sunday, May 13th, 2007 under Design Sketches | 2 comments

IF : CitrusMy entry for this week's Illustration Friday theme of "Citrus". For IFs, I usually try to work with what comes right to my head ... whatever comes first to mind. So for this, all of my initial thoughts were about pixels and gum-droppy icons ... and who am I to fight what feels so good?

I worked this up on paper, pulled it right into Illustrator for the slick lines and gradients (and no, I still don't have CS3 ... money, money, money). Photoshop gave me plenty of room for adding the traditional sharpness that blurry pixels usually get you. Add a couple of hits of Burn and Dodge, and it is *Fin! (Yes, just like the amazing Anberlin song, that is definitely my favorite off of the new Cities album). Enjoy!

If you are looking for more icon goodness, peep my profile at the IconBuffet! It's a great place to grab some sweet free pixel goodness.

I’ve had the words of a song I heard at Status last week stuck in my head for awhile, and after shaking around in my head a bit, this wallpaper is what they turned into. I hope you enjoy, and for those interested, here are my notes from the speaker that night. The song is called ...
Letting Go of You
If you haven't already picked up and fallen in love with Forever Changed's new album, Chapters, you are missing the boat. Even with the inevitable break-up planned, it is still excellently-crafted, captivating with sound and song. You won't regret adding this to your iTunes Library. Trust me. ...
Sweep the Leg
Oddly enough, I didn't keep any of the things I drew yesterday, so instead I will leave you with two nuggets of YouTube goodness. The first? John Reuben's new Word of Mouth video ... not too shabby of a track, and the animation is pretty fun. It has this kinda Cartoon Network meets 1970's School ...
On Sunday, Jodie and I had a great time celebrating our 7 year anniversary. It was technically a day early, but that was only because my current Full Sail teaching schedule has me coming home pretty late/early (depends on how you look at it). We enjoyed our traditional meal at the Cheesecake Factory and a late ...
IF : Repair
Here is my entry for this week’s Illustration Friday theme of “repair”.I was thinking a lot about doing something with Anberlin’s great song “Dismantle. Repair.”, but when pencil went to paper, this is what came out. Could’a been because I was watching an episode of “That 70’s Show” while drawing it, but I doubt that ...

Got somethin' to say? This is the place ... just try to play nice.
