Spatula Squad

Posted on Wednesday, September 28th, 2005 under Sketches | No comments

Ok. So instead of watching any Netflix with Matt tonight as planned, a bunch of girls were over at the house playing Mario Party 5. Apparently, they needed some way to combat the Mambo or Mimbo crew (something like that) and had thought up the name "Spatula Squad". Of course, I felt it was my ever-necessary duty to offer my assistance in college pranking ... thus was made the flying plastic (female) utensil you see before you.

The best part? I quickly drafted it up in Freehand, Painter and then Illustrator (ha ... it took awhile to get the feel I wanted), I laid it out in Illustrator, then gave it the ole' Live Paint for color.

Total Time : one game of Mario Party ... you be the judge on how long that usually lasts.

Thanks to the free videos from Lynda, I love Corel Painter IX even more. This is something fun I did with my Wacom Graphire3, using Painter's "Crayon" brush. A mix of colors, brush sizes, and erasing really helped bring out the life in this simple black on white sketch. ...
IF – Early
