Superman Returns

Are you excited about the new Superman movie? I know I am. Bryan Singer and Brandon Routh??? Yes, I am excited.

Mostly, I am just glad that someone has decided to create a new Supes movie. More importantly, I am glad that it is being directed by the great Bryan Singer, who always brings a fresh and indie-esque feel to his films ... independent, of course, being the best source for really good non-Hollywood-dribble stories.

Unfortunately, I am, like many others, worried about the deep saturation and textures given to the movie. It looks as though Kal-el's cape is crimson, as opposed to just red. That in itself is not really the problem. The fact that the cape looks leathery (yeah ... as in hey-its-Daredevil-all-over-again leathery) and thick. And the smaller, thicker chest "S" shield seems to be bothering lots of people. I think I am okay with it ... especially since it was decided to use Brandon Routh's actual body (abs, chest) in a thinner suit, instead of body armor.

Overall, it looks good and I am definitely seeing this one opening night.

4 out of 5 broken ziti dishesDirected by Paul Weitz Is it just me or did this movie seem to fall of the face of the earth? It had some semi-big hipe, a so/so box office return, and only now that it is on DVD has it stepped back into the poorly-lit room that serves as ...
