“Just called the NICU. Max’s skin was puffy this morning, so the doctor prescribed two medicines (can’t remember the exact names) to help reduce the amount of fluid (one through his urine). Oscar got to help take little Max’s temperature, swab his mouth with anti-phenemonea stuff then both Mom and Dad together gave Max a sponge bath. While Matt and Stephanie were visiting, Dad got to hold Max! Will post the rest of the photos tonight.

When we arrived this afternoon, Max was getting photo-therapy because of increased levels of bilirubin in his blood (jaundice). He will continue these treatments into tomorrow, then they will re-evelaute his levels. Still waiting for the results of the MRI. Both Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Colby were able to touch him some more

Max had his MRI at 4 am, it was slighty tramatic and had to increase his oxygen to 70% but later in the morning were able to return it to 30%. Because of the respirtory issues a follow up xray was need and showed that some fluid still remains in the lungs. Last night his [...]

Jodie had plenty of company in her room that first night and we are both very thankful for your friendship and support. If you didn’t get a picture of you there, trust us … we wish we had! You all mean a lot to us!


About Max

Maximillian Alejandro Cortez arrived at 7:48 am on Thursday April 30, 2009, weighing 4 pounds 12 ounces.

He spent 14 days in the NICU at Florida Hospital South, with his mother, father & family, before heading home to Heaven. We are all very excited to see him again.
